Facility fee.
What the building charges.
A separate charge from the physician's professional fee. The facility fee covers room, equipment, nursing, and overhead. Hospitals can charge facility fees for outpatient services that ASCs (ambulatory surgery centers) don't, which is why the same procedure often costs 2-3× more at a hospital.
