No Surprises Act.

Federal law against surprise bills.

Federal law effective 2022 that bans most surprise out-of-network billing. If you go to an in-network facility, you can't be balance-billed by out-of-network radiologists, anesthesiologists, ER doctors, etc. Also protects against air ambulance balance billing. Look for the 'Notice and Consent' form — if you didn't sign it, the bill is likely disputable.
